The Holidays and Looking Back at 2012

Wow how time flies!!

I remember when I was growing up and adults would always say, "you've gotten so big," or "you're so grown up." I told myself back then that I would never become one of those people.

Well, guess what?

I've become one of those people.

I don't know what it is about coming home for the holidays, but you see so many familiar faces, yet manage to associate those people with certain times in your own life. Like for me...I went to church and saw the "kids" I used to watch in the nursery or play with as babies. Now - they're in high school and driving! Ahhhh is this real life?

I can't believe how fast time goes by. It forces you to look back and remember your past, which can be both good and bad. Regardless, there are plenty of memories when you return to the place that you lived for the majority of life.

This holiday season was no exception. One of the best parts of my trip home was seeing all of my friends from high school. What I realized was how at this point in life, it doesn't matter what year you graduated or even if you really hung out with these people all the time in high school. You all end up hanging out together now and acting like you've always been friends and known everything that's going on in their lives. I hung out with people that were seniors in high school when I was in 8th grade. When I was that young, I only knew names, but never hung out with the seniors. Now it's like we all know each other and we've always been friends. I guess it's just the small town of Abingdon that brings us to the same places where we can chat and catch up for hours!

The holidays are the best. It's the perfect time to relax with family, see people you haven't seen in what feels like years, and reminisce about the past year.

2012 was a tough year. It brought a lot of adversity and really made me put things into perspective. It's hard when people close to you go through trying times. Cancer, deaths in the family, and other worries plagued this year. That's when you start to think about what other families are going through when it hits your own. You never know what's happening in people's lives or how they handle disappointments, but it sure does make you appreciate a lot that's taken for granted sometimes.

Although 2012 was a tough one, I grew a lot. My faith in the Lord became an even bigger part of my life. When people close to you are going through tough times, how can you not believe that God will help you get through it. Without my faith, I don't know how I could have handled everything this year. And it gives me hope for a better 2013.

A year is a long time. Even though it was a tough one, there were still a lot of great things that happened in 2012.

If we look back to this time last year, there was so much excitement surrounding the new year. It was deemed 2012 - they year to delve...into what you love! (Me and my catchphrases...get excited for 2013's!)

The year flew by, but a lot of positives resulted. I started my job at Paramount in 2012, and I met SO many amazing people. I know I'll have friends that last a lifetime from this job. I also started writing for Spotlight Country and realized my passion for wanting to be a country host/correspondent. And, I also began hosting at AfterbuzzTV, which has been an amazing experience as well. I've gotten to meet even more great people and even managed to interview some pretty cool celebs!

Let's see...I went to Vegas for the first time this year. And then I went two more times after that! ;)

Three of my besties married the loves of their lives and I got to celebrate that with them. And a bunch more of my friends got engaged, so we know what that means for 2013!

I can't forget all the fun and new experiences I've gotten to have in the big ole city of Los Angeles. New restaurants, new people, celeb spotting, sightseeing, beaches and more. It's definitely been a year of firsts for me! We can't forget that I also turned 24 - the year to soar!

I'm thinking there's gonna be a lot in store for 2013! Watch out for my new year's blog. Shoot...there's not much time left!

Make the rest of 2012 the best it can be!!!

I hope y'all had a great holiday season and are ringing in the new year in style! :)

Life...you never know what's gonna happen!

Shew it sure has been a while! And so much has happened since I turned 24 (the year to soar, for those of you who may have forgotten)!

Thanksgiving has come and gone...

PS...I met Wilson Bethel in the airport. What a hunk! ;) He was on my flight on the way home for Thanksgiving, and wouldn't you know he's supposed to come on our after show for Hart of Dixie - great segueway into a conversation I must say. Also, the Dean from Community was on my flight. I see him around the Paramount lot occasionally, so that was kind of random as well. This is the FIRST time ever that I've had some celebs on my flight, so that was a pretty eventful redeye for me!

It was great to be at home for Thanksgiving and to catch up with family and friends. But as I titled this blog post, you just never know what may happen. My precious Meme passed away while I was home. How blessed I am to have gotten to spend an amazing Thanksgiving with her. She was the best grandma a girl could ask for and I will strive to be like her everyday of my life. It's nice to know there's someone looking down on me from heaven. Like I said, life is unexpected sometimes. That's why friends and family are so important. You never know what may happen, so take advantage of every moment life has to offer.

After I got back from home (and I can't believe I'm heading back there in like 6 days!!!), it's been a whirlwind of working, birthday parties, holiday parties and more! We had an awesome holiday party at AfterbuzzTV with Maria Menounos and another one with the UVA Entertainment LA alumni group last night. So much fun! And there are many more to come this weekend. Can't wait to celebrate! Slash it's about time I go Christmas shopping, huh?!

Happy Holidays everybody!!

Birthday extravaganza!!

What an amazing weekend!

I can't even believe it...another year has flown by and now I'm 24!!! AHHHHH

But every birthday I like to make up a catchphrase for the upcoming year. This time it's (drum roll please):

24...THE YEAR TO SOAR!!!

And I really believe it. It's the year to accomplish goals! To dream big and pray bold (thanks to Oprah's Lifeclass).

I feel truly blessed to have made it another year in this crazy world! I have an amazing family and awesome friends who have been there to celebrate with me along the way.

This was an exciting birthday too because I finally feel like LA is a big part of me, and I've met so many amazing people who were with me this weekend!

We did a birthday dinner at Don Antonio's. Some of y'all might remember this restaurant from The Hills as it was a regular hot spot for Spencer and Heidi haha. Not even kidding...there's a menu item called Spencer's Steak Tacos (see below). Really people?!

And Saturday night was the big birthday extravaganza. My roomie and I threw a birthday party at our apartment, and it was a BLAST!! I loved every second of it and got to see lots of good friends!

Of course I made a speech - "To love, life and happiness and to 24...the year to soar!" Good times!

I don't care what people say...I still like getting sung to on my bday haha!

Sunday was an awesome day too! On my actual birthday, I went to an event (courtesy of Nina Shamloo) where I got to watch an advanced screening of Happy Endings and then there was a Q&A session with the cast! AHHHH

It was so cool! I absolutely LOVED the Thanksgiving episode of the show and I literally couldn't stop laughing when the cast was talking. Plus...I got to meet Damon Wayans Jr.! Who wouldn't think that was the best birthday present EVER?!?

So overall...it was a great start to year 24! I'll never forget it! Now let's get ready to SOAR y'all! :)

It just doesn't get any better than this...

What a weekend!

I can't even begin to describe just how amazing and spontaneous this weekend was, but I'm gonna give it a go...

After work on Friday, my friends and I headed to Santa Monica for a birthday party. We went to the Bungalow and it was a BLAST! Man...I have to start heading to the ocean a little more often I think! It's just a different vibe and so much fun!

I loved the Bungalow. Lots of really cool people. And who walked in but none other than Colin Egglesfield! Not gonna lie...he's a hottie haha and a super nice guy! And of course I awkwardly told him I watch the Client List lol. We hung out with him and his friends for most of the night, and it was great! Here's a fun pic:

The weekend fun didn't stop there!

On Saturday night we tried out a new place close to where we live called Churchill. Another cool place and one I'll definitely head back to since it's so close by and pretty relaxed. I got together with a high school friend, so it was fun because I was hanging out with friends from high school, college, and all the way up to today!

Then came Sunday...

I felt like a real person because my friends and I planned a Sunday brunch, where we cooked and sat around a table together. My LA fam! :) It was very yummy too! We had pumpkin pancakes and lots of bacon haha. It felt like home - eating good food and watching football! Good times!

Then came the fun Sunday night extravaganza! I headed to the Eric Church, Justin Moore and Kip Moore concert at Nokia Theater for Spotlight Country. It was AMAZING! Seriously...those are some talented guys. They had everybody in that huge theater on their feet. Highlights of the concert: dancing down the aisle with a dude in a cowboy hat - yes, believe it or not, LA has cowboys too, although they definitely must have come out of the woodwork because I never see them in real life haha! Also, having a VIP pass to head backstage and hang out with the bands after the show wasn't too shabby either!

However, the best part of the night was hanging out with the bands after the show! We headed up to where their tour buses were and had a grand ole time! I chatted with Justin Moore and Kip Moore and told them they had a great show, and I met quite a few of their bandmates as well!

Now that's a check off the bucket list if I do say so myself. Everybody was just hanging out and getting food from a taco truck that came just for after the show! How cool is that?! I literally was asking myself, "Is this real life?!?" And of course, it made me want to be a CMT host that much more!! I love being around some good ole country folk! :)

I must say it was one amazing weekend and not something I'll ever forget. I definitely feel very blessed to have these opportunities, and the entire weekend reminded me of just how lucky I am! LA just feels like a place where anything is possible!

When you need a good laugh...

Head to The Parlor on Melrose!

Every Monday night The Parlor has a comedy night and it's SO much fun! I went last night with a couple of my friends and we literally cracked up for a good 3 hours.

There were comedians from Chelsea Lately, Comedy Central and more! It's always nice to start a work week off with a little bit of laughter, and that's just what we did!

It didn't hurt that there was an LA Laker there watching the show as well. Ron Artest aka Metta World Peace was watching the show too. And the comedians had no problem calling him out a time or two haha!

Another check off the bucket list! Who doesn't enjoy a comedy show every once a while. Doesn't hurt to laugh! I'll definitely be going back!

Can't say no to Vegas!

Impromptu trip to Vegas?!? I think yes!

And that's exactly what I did this weekend. Why not take the offer of a free hotel room at Caesar's Palace and spend Halloween weekend in the city that begs for craziness?!

Friday night was when the Halloween extravaganza began. It was the Paramount Halloween party! Talk about cool... Dressing up however you feel like it and dancing and mingling on a studio sound stage. Can't say that I've ever done that before!

Cute pic from the Paramount party: (and check out those lashes haha!)

Next thing you know I'm dancing to some Nicki Minaj while getting a text that says: Vegas at 6AM!!
WHAT??

Oh well...when you think Vegas, you really don't think sleep. So after the fun Paramount party, it was off to Vegas the next day. Just a quick trip, but it literally felt like I was there for weeks! Vegas can do that to ya!

We had a great room in Caesar's Palace, my friends got scammed by a guy on the streets trying to sell wristbands for a club (never listen to those guys), and I enjoyed a great dinner and fun night out!

I say I need more spontaneity in my life, and this weekend was just that. When you don't have too many responsibilities tying you down, you might as well experience this fun world around you as often as you can! #livinyoungandwildandfree right?!

I wanna be more like Rob...

Rob Dyrdek that is...

I don't know about y'all, but I'm seriously obsessed with watching re-runs of Rob and Big and Fantasy Factory. Not only do I laugh to the point of tears, but not gonna lie...that guy inspires me!

I just don't understand how he comes up with some of the things he does. Like having Drama ride a bull or purposefully getting attacked by a shark just to say he got attacked by a shark. He lives on the EDGE...something I think we all need to do a little bit more - although maybe not to the extent of getting attacked by wild animals...

That guy knows how to have fun while always finding ways to inspire others and give back. That's what makes me like him so much. He's inspiring, yet hilarious!

Since my roomie and I record every re-run on our DVR, you can imagine our embarrassing excitement when we saw Drama as we drove down Sunset Blvd. It went a little something like this...

"That guy looks familiar (while glancing at a white Range Rover next to us)."

"OMG that's DRAMA!!!!!"

Then for the next few minutes, all you hear coming from our car is "AHHHHHHHH WHAT?!?! AHHHH NO WAY!!!!!"

It's safe to say the Drama sighting made our night! Our friends in the back seat found us to be quite obnoxious.

What can I say? It's the little things sometimes...

So the moral of the story is...I wanna be more like Rob Dyrdek - super fun, a tad bit weird, a good ole friend and a giver, all why doing what I love to do. You know that's gotta be a fun life!

You better 'redneckognize'!!!

I don't know what it is, but I'm literally OBSESSED with Honey Boo Boo haha!

When it's on TV, you better not be changing the channel because that dang show just cracks me up!

It's gotten to the point that my Daddy and I call each other up just to tell the other one to 'redneckognize'! I know...it's a problem.

While I'm leaning forward on the couch with my elbows on my knees literally laughing so hard that I'm both crying and not breathing, my roommate is staring at me like I'm a fool. It's just what that show does to me!

Believe it or not...I was walking around the Grove yesterday and guess who was on their way to be on EXTRA? Yep...that'd be Honey Boo Boo and her momma June. Who woulda thought??

But honestly, it really is a great show to watch when you need some good entertainment in your life. If you're not having the best day or worried about why things are the way they are...turn to TLC and watch 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo'. In the end, they show us what's most important - family and friendships. Even if it is some kind of crazy family...they sure do have a blast together!

So as Honey Boo Boo might say, "You better redneckognize." Things can change in a day, so try your best to "redneckognize" what's most important in life and don't take yourself too seriously!

Checks off the bucket list!

What an amazing week!

I had no idea working at Paramount could keep getting better and better! To celebrate the studio's 100th anniversary, Paramount had a fun reception and special screening of 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' on Thursday.

So I'm just sitting in the Paramount Theatre getting ready to watch the screening and out pops Steven Spielberg! What?! But it gets even better...

Our CEO was asking Spielberg questions about the movie and then you hear another voice. Well whaddaya know... it's dang Harrison Ford! AHHH so cool! We literally got to listen to Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg talk about making the movie and then got to watch it, knowing what went into making it! Is this real life?!?

Here are some pics:

What an unforgettable night!

Then, this weekend was filled with birthday celebrations! On Saturday, I went to Malibu Wines for a bday party. It was SO gorgeous, even though it did take 1 hour and 45 minutes to get there! Shew...I'll never get used to this awful LA traffic.

The winery was gorgeous. You have to drive all the way up the Malibu hills and past the ocean to get there. There was music and friends and fun! Definitely a check off the ole bucket list. Who wouldn't want to spend a Saturday in Malibu? Here are some photos from the day:

This weekend was just perfect! I couldn't ask for anything better. It really reminds me of how blessed I am to live in such a fun city with great friends and lots of new experiences!

Just listen to Oprah...

You know those days when you feel down in the dumps?

The ones where you second guess everything and wonder when in the world the next step is going to come along or what in the heck you're doing with your life...

That's how I feel right now.

It's not a bad thing, but it definitely makes me think.

It's like I know exactly what I want to do with my life, but the journey is different for everybody, and you just never know what's going to happen or how long it may take.

On days like these...I turn to Oprah for some inspiration! I'm not kidding, that lady has something for every mood.

Today, I turned my thoughts to Oprah's Quotes to Help You Keep Following Your Dreams. And of course, it was just what I needed! Who can ignore an inspirational quote like this:

"There is no greater gift you can give or receive than to honor your calling.
It's why you were born. And how you become most truly alive."
-OPRAH

That's right Oprah! That's exactly what I believe. You never fail to write/say the right thing. That's why you're you, right Oprah?

What a lady!

In the end...

Labor Day weekend fun...and oh yeah, my 1 year anniversary in LA!!

I can't believe I've officially been in LA for a whole year! Oh how time flies!

I hope everybody had an awesome Labor Day weekend! I know I sure loved having that extra day to relax and hang out with friends!

Even though the weekend was pretty laid back, I still managed to do a lot!

My favorite part about living in a big city is getting to try new things - especially restaurants! So this weekend I tried quite a few new places. My roomie and I had a fun Friday with dinner and a movie. We decided to walk to a sushi place right near our apartment and it was awesome! Now I know we'll keep going back. I don't know if that's a good thing or not haha. Then we went to the Grove and watched The Campaign! It was the perfect movie to sit back and just laugh. That Zach Galifianakis is one funny dude haha!

And Saturday was a fun day too...We had a girls day that ended up turning into a girls night out (of course)! We laid by the pool and then got all dressed up and went to dinner at Caffe Roma in Beverly Hills! One thing is for sure...us girls sure have a hard time making a decision. After dinner, we literally sat in a parked car in Beverly Hills trying to decide what to do next. Poor guy with his blinker on waiting for our parking spot just sat and sat! But finally we decided to head to the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Now I had read about the Beverly Hills Hotel when I read all of the A-List novels (basically the LA counterpart to Gossip Girl haha). So I'd been dying to try it out. So much fun! The hotel is just as gorgeous as I had imagined and the Polo Lounge was really relaxed and a great place for chatting with the girls. We even saw Nicky Hilton sneaking out of the hotel! I definitely want to go back. And maybe one day we can rent out one of the bungalows haha. Big dreams!

And then Monday...Labor Day! We celebrated Labor Day and my one-year anniversary with good ole Los Angeles by the beach in Santa Monica. It was the perfect beach day, and being that I do live in Cali, I should have a little tan, right? It was definitely a sun-tanning, hamburger eating type of day. What better way to celebrate?

It's always nice having that extra long weekend, especially when you get a chance to appreciate all the ways your life is blessed!

So it's one year down...wonder how many years there are to go in this crazy love affair with California?

I'm officially a Californian...

Well legally that is...

But we all know I'll always be a Southern girl at heart! :)

It took long enough, but I officially have Cali tags and a California ID! Ahhhh is this really happening?!

I was going to show y'all a pic of my new license plates, but then I realized that's probably not the smartest idea haha. Well, duh! Cause if you've ever seen Criminal Minds, then you know how creepy things can turn out ahh. Did I mention that I'm now addicted to that show? Although, it does give me nightmares, I just can't stop watching...

Anyways...I was talking to someone today about how quickly time flies. I mean it's only been a little over a year since I graduated from college, but somehow I feel like it's been forever. Maybe it's because life changes so quickly...

You really do have to grow up and get real after college. No more messing around...it's job time; it's bill time; it's REAL time!

But all in all, it really is an exciting time. One of my tour guests today told me this is the time to figure out what you want to do. Try new things and do something you're passionate about doing. Better to be adventurous and take risks instead of settling and being unhappy. It'll all work out eventually. That's why we have to put our trust in something BIGGER!

The perks of living in LA...

Except for this first part of my blog...I'm being sarcastic.

Today was the day I attempted the trip to the Los Angeles DMV. Yep...the place where you go and once you're inside, you may never come out. I was literally at the DMV today for 4 hours! WHAT?!? And I even had an appointment!

You read that right...an appointment. Who has to make a dang appointment to go to the DMV?? At home, you just walk in, say hey to the employees (whom you most likely know by their first names) and you're in and out of there without any hassle!

That's just not the case in LA. Luckily, having an appointment allowed me to skip the line that curved around the entire building...but I've never seen so many people trying to get licenses. Shew!

Last complaint, I promise...I thought okay, I'll give it one day and get everything accomplished. But nope! I'll be going back to finish getting my car registered. It's never-ending ahhhhh!!!

Luckily, at lunch I was reminded of the perks of living in this city. I'm just standing in line at my favorite salad place and lo and behold, there's Giuliana Rancic waiting in line too! So that was exciting!

After spending hours at the DMV, I get a reminder of why I love this city in the first place. It just makes me more excited and inspired to work towards my hosting goals. Little reminders like seeing a successful host like Giuliana keep me working hard towards my dreams! ONE DAY!!! :)

So the moral of my blog today is that any day in this big city can seem bland or crazy and the next thing you know, you walk right past someone who reminds you of why you're here in the first place! You just never know what's coming next!

You wanna go where everybody knows your name...

Oh Cheers...I now know why you loved that bar oh so much!

It's just the best feeling when you go out with friends to your favorite place. You know the one I'm talking about - your go-to hang out where you know everybody who works there and so many memories have been made there that you'll never forget?!

Well unfortunately the quote "all good things must come to an end" came true last Saturday night. My favorite bar...the one where I celebrated my birthday and my friends birthdays, the one we went to for a chill night or for a dance night with the girls, the one I saw Stephen Colletti at has closed. :(

That's right...I understand just how disappointing it is when a place filled with so many memories is no longer open for business.

So L Bar closed last weekend. But the worst is when the next weekend comes... You're sitting around with your friends and you have absolutely NO IDEA what you're going to spend your Friday and Saturday night doing. That's exactly what happened to us. We just sat and sat and couldn't think of anywhere to go!

It's ok...I'll give myself one lame weekend to be sad, but man we have to get back out there! This weekend will be a fun one. We're gonna try new places and find our new staple spot, don't you worry haha!

In the end though, you just wanna go where everybody knows your name! We'll find our new Cheers soon!

When I grow up...

I want to be in the Olympics!!!

Who else is obsessed with watching the Olympics?! Now that's it's coming to an end, I guess I'll have to go back to watching reruns of Criminal Minds and Friends haha.

But seriously, don't the Olympics make you so proud of your country? It's the one time people from all over the world come together and show just how many talented people there are in this world! It's so amazing and truly inspiring!

Sometimes, when I'm watching the Olympics by myself and USA wins a medal, I stand up and sing the National Anthem with the winners! Ahhh...I'm a weirdo haha! But a proud one!

My favorite sports to watch at the 2012 London Olympics were Women's Gymnastics, Swimming and Beach Volleyball. My favorite was gymnastics of course.

I remember taking gymnastics for YEARS and hoping I'd go to the Olympics one day. This was the time of the Magnificent Seven. I was obsessed with Dominique Moceanu and wanted to be just like her one day. I bought all of the books about the USA team and my parents even bought me a warm-up uniform that matched the gymnastics team! Good times! :)

Well...obviously, me being an Olympic gymnast was just not my calling in life. I could have guessed that the time I was on the balance beam and proceeded to fall, straddle the beam, and slide off sideways. I cried for an hour!

But one thing's for sure...I'll always be watching and cheering on the athletes who impress me oh so much!

YAY for the Olympics! And thank goodness we all have a variety of talents to offer this world. We just gotta figure out how to use them!

VIP in Vegas baby and so much more!!

I can't believe that I had never been to Vegas once in 23 years, and since I moved to LA, I've been there twice in the past 3 months haha! That's the way it goes!

And this time was even crazier!!

I went to Vegas to celebrate my friend Nina's birthday and we ended up celebrating our VIP luck even more! My roomie Bianka somehow talked to the CEO of MGM Resorts on the phone at work and he ended up hooking us up! This is NOT real life!

We were VIP in the Bellagio hotel, which was such an awesome experience! Check out the pretty fountains at the hotel:

We got into fun clubs the whole time. Our favorite was The Bank in the Bellagio. And wait for this story...

While we were in The Bank, somebody comes up to me and asks, "Did you go to a leadership conference in Washington, DC at American University?" Why yes, yes I did. How crazy is that!?! To remember somehow from years ago and you run into them in Vegas of all places haha. Such a small world...

We also loved our meal at Capital Grille in Vegas. They set us up at the best table in the place with the most gorgeous view of the Vegas strip! Here we are toasting to Nina's bday!

Seriously such a fun experience, minus the 7 plus hours it took to drive back home... So much traffic! And not only that...it ended up raining and hailing in the desert of all places. Shew! We were worn out!

So Vegas...we'll be back. Just give us a couple of months to recover haha!

On another note, check out afterbuzztv.com to see my latest after-shows for Pretty Little Liars! We interviewed Jenna and Lucas from the show one week and that was a blast! I'll be there every week, so tune in if y'all can!! Every Tuesday at 10pm ET and 7pm PT.

And I've been writing a bunch of blogs for Spotlight Country, so head to www.spotlightcountry.com if you want the latest in country music news!! :)

Some fun celeb spotting this week at work too! I saw Academy Award winner Jessica Lange who was back at Paramount to start shooting American Horror Story. And I also smiled at Henry Cavill and about melted! What a stud haha!

Now, I've gotta get to packing while listening to some Shania Twain! Heading home for another wedding this weekend! Can't wait!!

The South will forever be my home

It sure has been awhile...

With trips back home to VA and a beach trip to Charleston, SC, I felt very far away from the life I live here in Los Angeles.

Everything felt comfortable and familiar back at home...hanging out with my family and celebrating weddings and engagements with my friends. It reminded me of a simpler time - one that I hope to achieve again at some point in my life.

It really is the little things that can make all the difference. No matter what's going on in life, sometimes all you need is to be around the people and things that feel like home to you. These are a few of my favorite things from my trips back to the South that remind me to stay grounded and be grateful for all that I've been blessed with in this life:

A day at the lake
Petting my little Gabby girl
Holding baby Jude
My best friend Hannah getting engaged!
Celebrating my best friend Breanna's wedding!
Mom and daughter chats
Spending quality time with my Meme
Eating at Chef Heather's with family and friends
The Johnson City mall
Running into people you know everywhere you go
6 hour car rides to the beach
Lots and lots of country music
Sweet tea
Watermelon on a sunny day
Cheer stunts in the pool
Riding the waves at high tide
Sightseeing in downtown Charleston
Family dinners

And the list could go on forever...

I don't know what it was...but I couldn't have asked for a better trip home.

When I was sitting at the beach in Wild Dunes with my feet in the water and the hot South Carolina sun beaming down on my face, I felt such a sense of peace. It's like I knew that's where I needed to be at that exact moment, and it felt so right. I just couldn't stop dreaming...

Then after a cancelled flight and finally making my way back to the big city...it made me question what really matters. It makes me think harder about my goals and dreams and has forced me to focus on my faith and trust in the Lord. Without that faith...every little struggle would seem like a huge mountain. But I don't have to worry like that because I trust that there is a plan set for me, and really I'm just along for the ride. I will always cherish my trips back home because they remind me of who I really am and what really matters to me deep down.

How lucky I am to know the small town Southern life and to experience all that the big city of Los Angeles has to offer! Life is definitely a journey, and I am where I am for a reason. I can't wait to see where God leads me.

Here are some pics (lots more to come) from my trip home and of course from my 4th of July celebration back here in LA!

So much to celebrate!

What a weekend!

I was just going and going all weekend...hanging out with friends and celebrating special events!

I hope y'all got a chance to celebrate Father's Day. I was so sad that I didn't get to hang out with my Diddy on the special day, but I'm heading home tomorrow, so I'll get to celebrate with him then! So Dad...get ready!

Not only was it Father's Day, but it was also my roomie's birthday! What a blast! We went to dinner at Sur (one of Lisa Vanderpump's restaurants...she's from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills). Then, we headed to The Parlor for some karaoke and fun! I of course sang my go-to karaoke song, Chicken Fried haha. And believe it or not...everyone in the bar was singing along! I guess I am bringing some country to the big city! :)

I also had a blast at our girls-night-out dinner to Della Terra. It's seriously one of my favorite restaurants in LA, so I had to take my friends there! After dinner, I forced everyone to play my favorite game, Imaginiff. Lots of fun! Then we headed to a page party to hang out with all of the new pages that started working at Paramount! 23 new people...shew!

Here's a pic!

So after all the fun, I spent most of my day Sunday watching a marathon of The Client List with Jennifer Love Hewitt. I'm obsessed haha! So racy!

The weekend was definitely a success! I had a blast for sure. And it hasn't stopped yet! Tonight, we're heading out to dinner to celebrate my roommate's official bday. So lots more food and fun I'm sure!

It was such a great weekend, that I know I'll be sad to leave LA for a little bit, but heading back to VA will be a blast! Excited to see the friends and family! Abingdon...here I come!

What a day!!

I had the best day ever!!!

I got to be the host for a shoot for Fembot Media today. It was for a pilot, so if it gets picked up, then I'll give y'all ALL the details!! ;)

I got my hair and makeup done and everything! I could definitely get used to that haha. But it was so great working with different people who are amazing at what they do! You never think about all of the people that are needed to make a production happen - from the sound engineer to the wardrobe stylist to the set designer and of course the director and producer... Putting on a show takes A LOT of hard work and talent!

We headed up to the LA Pride Parade to do some man on the street interviews! And let me tell you...I sure did interview some interesting people today haha! It's always a blast getting to talk to random people about crazy topics!

Hosting was such a blast, and I feel so blessed to have gotten this opportunity! I can't wait to do this everyday as my job!!

I'll keep y'all posted on the details soon!

Wahoowa forever!!

Last night was a blast!!

I'm currently the Events Chair for the UVA Entertainment Los Angeles alumni club, and last night we had a huge cocktail reception to honor the head of the acting program at UVA! It was so much fun!!

It was at the Library Bar at the Redbury Hotel in Hollywood. Let me tell you...what a fun crowd!

I always love getting together with fellow HOOS from LA for a big celebration. We even had some actors who graduated from UVA attend. Remember Ryan Atwood from the OC?? Yep...Ben McKenzie came and so did Sarah Drew and Jason George from Grey's Anatomy. Also, if you remember the movie Save the Last Dance...Sean Patrick Thomas, one of the stars of the movie, came to the event as well. They were all co-hosts of the event because they studied under Richard Warner at UVA.

Events like these remind you of how blessed you are to have gone to such a great university. There is such a sense of community and enthusiasm when UVA alums reunite.

Richard gave an amazing speech during the event. And what really stuck out to me was when he mentioned the 3 R's - risk-taking, rejection and resilience. Those three words are so important, especially when you're living in LA and trying to follow your dreams. When you're passionate about following a path in life, knowing that the 3 R's are inevitable will help you reach your goals.

So to say the least, Richard Warner is a very inspiring man, and the event itself was definitely a success!

Pics to come!! :)

Spotlight country baby!!!

Hey y'all!!

Good news! I've been writing for this new website called Spotlight Country that's based here in LA. So much fun!! It's a website that gives you all things country, but one of the only sites that is actually based in Hollywood! Talk about bringing country music to the city...because "country must be country-wide," right?!

So if you love country music or just want to check out the blogs I've been writing, then head to www.spotlightcountry.com! You can also follow us on Twitter at @spotcountry and like us on Facebook! Y'alls support would be amazing!

And definitely let me know if you want to read more info about certain topics!

This is an amazing opportunity, especially since y'all know how much I want to be a host for CMT one day!! What a great way to get started! :)

Happy Anniversary Momma and Daddy!!!

Wow...28 years! Can you believe that??

From high school sweethearts to now - that's pretty amazing! It's definitely something I aspire to have with a special someone one day.

I can only imagine the ups and downs of such a long-term relationship, but what an amazing triumph to support and love one another for 28 years.

It seems that a love like this is rare in the society we live in today, but couples like my parents give us single 20-somethings faith! :)

So Mom and Dad...congrats to 28 years of marriage! I pray there will be many, many more to come.

What happens in Vegas...

Vegas baby!!!

What a crazy place...let me tell you! I headed to Las Vegas for the first time ever to celebrate my friend's bachelorette party, and boy did we have some fun!

Everywhere you go people are just gambling there money away! There were even slot machines at the Denny's where we ate breakfast haha!

And usually there are tons of groups of people celebrating something - whether it's a birthday party or a bachelor/bachelorette party! So it's tons of fun to be around groups from all over! You never know who you'll meet in Vegas!

I loved driving down the strip with all of the lights too! It was so cool to actually see it in person. Gorgeous hotels and crazy clubs!

And let's not forget the shows that are just made for bachelorette parties!! ;)

But like we all say: what happens in Vegas...stays in Vegas!

Y'all will just have to go and see for yourselves!

It is wedding season baby!

Shew! I can't believe it!

Seriously every time I get on Facebook someone else is engaged! And I already booked flights back home for 3, yes THREE different weddings this summer.

Crazy...but exciting! Who doesn't love weddings?? Friends, family and fun - that's what weddings are all about right?!

And what girl doesn't dream about her wedding starting in elementary school? I know I sure did. So it'll be great to celebrate such a memorable event with so many great friends.

I'll keep y'all posted on all of the festivities this summer...starting tomorrow! I'm off to Vegas for a Bachelorette party! First time going to Vegas, so I'm sure it'll be eventful!

But now...I'm gonna get back on Pinterest to plan my future wedding haha! ;)

Happy Mother's Day!!

What a special day!

This is the day to tell your momma just how much she means to you! Let me tell you...mine has definitely played a huge role in my life.

I wouldn't be the person I am today without her amazing influence. Over the years, we've had so many great memories together. She taught me how important it is to be kind to everyone you meet, because you never know what people are going through. She taught me to follow my dreams and has supported me greatly along my path to get where I want to be. And, she has taught me to be a woman of courage and humility. I owe everything to her.

I pray for many more memories with my sweet and special mom. I love you Kimmy Fern!!!

Make sure you think about your mom on this special day!

Definitely know my passion!

This weekend was a blast! Nope...not because it was relaxing or because it was Cinco De Mayo, but because I had a weekend long hosting class!!!

That's right, my whole weekend was spent polishing my hosting skills, working with co-hosts, and having pseudo talk shows! It was a lot of work, but I learned so much! And it made me want to start working as a host that much more! :)

The class was taught by the fabulous Suzanna Sena who has worked at E!, Fox, and is now currently on The Onion. She had so much experience and advice to share with us. What made the class even better though was that most of the people from the Level 1 class I took were in it with me! YAY!! We had the best time ever, and I know so many people from my class have the talent to make it so far with hosting.

It feels so good to know what I want to do in this life. I have so much excitement and passion for hosting that I don't know what to do with myself haha! And if you've ever seen me act like my hyper, crazy self, then you can only imagine what I'm like when I get to talk nonstop and feel like I've had tons of caffeine when it's really just me being super enthusiastic! I just love it!

I'll keep y'all posted on what happens next! My hosting reel is almost finished...woohoo!!!

Oh Virginia...you will always have my heart :)

What a great couple of weeks!

I visited my good ole home state of Virginia twice this month!! I had an impromptu trip home to spend time with my family and then I just had to go back to UVA for Foxfield of course! :)

I'm not gonna lie...although I LOVE LA, I'm definitely a Southern girl at heart. Sometimes you just need to enjoy that slower and more relaxing pace of life.

I will tell y'all though - I definitely had to watch my road rage back when I was in Abingdon. Shew...no one ever goes over the speed limit it seems like. Stark contrast from this big city that I've gotten used to. Not only do people speed any chance they get (considering there's tons of traffic all the time), but no matter what, people always run the yellow lights out here. Back in Virginia...people slow down the second they think the light is gonna turn yellow haha! Oh well...it's good to be reminded that I need to have some patience every once in a while!

It was great being in Abingdon for a few days though. I love spending time with my family and reminiscing about the good old days - until lots of changes happen and shift your focus. I got to catch up with high school friends too. We just had to see the movie The Lucky One as soon as it came out. Oh boy...did Zac Efron look good in that one haha! Still...The Notebook was better. ;)

And this past weekend...I took a trip down memory lane. I went back to Cville to visit my college friends and enjoy one of the best days of the year - Foxfield. On Friday, we drove down from DC to Charlottesville. First stop: Bel Air Market for one of the best sandwiches I've ever had in my life. Nothing compares to that little shop attached to a gas station. Then we headed to Kings Family Vineyard so we could enjoy the gorgeous, sunny day and have some Virginia wine. I have to admit...my favorite part of the day was spending time chatting with my friends and staring at the beautiful VA mountains! Later, we all got dressed up and headed downtown to Bang! What a fun place. Definitely one of my favorites!

So beautiful Friday leads to rainy Saturday. Of course, the day that we have to be outside all day for the horse races is rainy and freezing! Ugh! At least the rain let up eventually....but I did hang out under a tent for quite sometime. I would have loved to run around and socialize more, but oh well!

Then of course, on Sunday it's gorgeous and sunny again! That always how it happens haha. But that was a great day too. It doesn't get better than sitting out on the Lawn and looking at the amazing university you attended. I'll tell ya one thing is for sure...you come to appreciate certain aspects of what your life used to be like way more when you haven't been around it in a while! How blessed I was to go to such a beautiful school with the best of friends!

I did spend a good 22 years in Virginia...so that place will always be my first home. Great memories and great friends. You gotta love every stage in life though!

Now on to making more memories in Los Angeles... :)

It's All Good...

Shew...I know it's been a while since I've written a blog post. And SO SO much has happened since my last entry!

Let's see...my roomie and I threw our first apartment party and invited over a bunch of people to celebrate and have some fun. How great is it that you can find amazing friendships no matter where you are? I know I sure have found quite a few new friends out here in LA that will be friends forever. I have realized just how important it is to have people you can trust and confide in no matter what's going on in your life. I am truly blessed to have great friends from every stage in my life - from elementary to high school, and college to the present.

Work has been going well too! I love being on a studio lot every day and feeling the buzz of entertainment all around me. How lucky! It sure has made me appreciate the opportunities that have been given to me throughout my life. You never know who you'll meet or what the next step is...but it sure feels good to enjoy waking up everyday and loving what you do!

Believe it or not, I've learned a lot about life since I last posted. Each day brings something new...whether it's an exciting new venture or a tragedy that comes upon someone you know. Regardless, it's important to continue to put life into perspective. Remember what's really important - your faith, family, friendships. You can't control everything that life throws at you, but you can control your attitude. Stay positive and give your fears and worries over to the Lord. After all, what's life without someone to believe in.

There's a reason for everything, and every trial or hardship you go through only builds character and makes you stronger. I have faith that good can come times of adversity. So let's face our fears with a positive attitude!

What a weekend!!!

I seriously had the best weekend ever!!

On Saturday, I shot my hosting reel in Beverly Hills! I just had the best time ever. There were four of us who went out with our hosting teacher and a camera man and we shot a bunch of footage all over the Beverly Hills area!

We went to a jewelry store (Alan Friedman Jewelry) where I got to wear a $115,000 ring! Ahhh...I have never worn something that cost that much money! Shew! But it was so fun getting to wear the ring for my shoot and talk about the jewelry that is used to make the stars sparkle on the red carpet! So much fun!

We also went to the "eyebrow king" in Beverly Hills - Damone Roberts! We got to interview him and check out the salon which was amazing! He has done the eyebrows of every star from Beyonce to Channing Tatum! I seriously had the best time ever! :)

Then today...my friends and I decided to make a day of it in Beverly Hills! We met my roommate who works at MGM for lunch at a place named Jack n Jill's! So yummy!! Then we hung out at Bouchon - a French restaurant which is across from the Montage Hotel. It was gorgeous. We were sitting next to a beautiful courtyard and just enjoying the day!

Get this...there were a bunch of kids playing in the courtyard while we were sitting there, and two of the boys were Victoria and David Beckham's sons! So crazy...I can even spot celeb's kids now haha! Cruz and Romeo Beckham were just playing around and having fun with their friends. Then later that night, Dianna Agron passed by to eat at the restaurant. I swear I see that girl everywhere! She's been at two restaurants where I've been and then I see her when I'm at work all the time! Small world if I do say so myself!

Overall...it was a great weekend! I feel truly blessed to be in such a fun and entertaining place surrounded by great friends!

Hope y'all had a great weekend!! :)

Missin my momma!

What a fun trip! My momma came to visit LA and we had a blast!

We toured Paramount, ate at some yummy restaurants and shopped A LOT! I loved every minute of it!

That's the nice thing about parents...they always help you experience things you might not get to when you're 23 years old and don't have a lot of money. Things like nice restaurants haha! We definitely tried out a few new places. My favorites had to be Ago in West Hollywood for an Italian dinner and Blu Jam Cafe for brunch! If you're ever in LA...these are the places to go. P.S...Tim Tebow was spotted eating at Blu Jam, so who wouldn't want to eat there at least once?! Hands down, the best french toast I've ever eaten!

But overall...I loved having my mom here to experience the city and see what my life is like out here. When she left, it definitely made me miss everything at home though. Good thing I'll be back in June!

This week has been really great though! I had my final hosting class on Tuesday night. So sad! I'm definitely going to miss seeing all my new friends every Tuesday night. There was so much talent in that class...I just know I'll be seeing them on TV one day soon. Good times!

And at work...I saw Colin Egglesfield from Something Borrowed! Now talk about a good lookin man haha. And I talked to LL Cool J and then Nathan Fillion from Castle! They were both on the lot shooting for their shows, and they were so friendly! How refreshing to meet such nice actors. It makes me respect them that much more.

So as you can see...it's been a pretty eventful week!

Now off to see the midnight showing of HUNGER GAMES!!! Who's going?? Ahhhh so excited!
